The World Sustainable Energy Days, the largest annual conference in this field in Europe, offered a unique combination of events on sustainable energy production and use, covering energy efficiency and renewable energy sources for buildings, industry and transport. The events bridged the gap between R & D and markets, between industry and institutions. In addition to five conferences - which presented the latest technology trends, outstanding examples and European strategies in different fields - the "Energiesparmesse", an important energy exhibition, offered optimal opportunities to establish new partnerships for innovation, environment protection and business. The conference also made an important contribution to awareness raising for green energy and energy efficiency. Since 14 years, experts and decision makers from all over the world flocked to Upper Austria to attend the events - in 2005, the conference attracted more than 800 participants from 54 countries.
